Here is another thing you can try.  Rather than using this:

Office365Users.UserProfile(User().Email).Department,

Try using this:   Office365Users.MyProfileV2().Department.    You are using the values for the current user with User.(), so eliminate that and the extra lookup it is doing by using MyProfileV2 instead.

I can tell you that the profileV2 does work as I use it all the time.  Some of the identifiers have changed as you can see, email is now mail. As you can see in the image below all 3 labels are retrieving information from Office365Users.MyProfileV2.

O365users.png

I have done some digging and here is what I found.  You no longer have to use the Odata type.   You also only have to provide 3 pieces of information and Sharepoint will fill in the rest.   Try this:

Patch(
    'Activities Overall',
    Defaults('Activities Overall'),
    {
      Title: "New Title Value",
      ReservedBy: {
            Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & lower(varUser.mail),
            DisplayName: varUser.displayName,
            Email: varUser.mail
        }
   }
)

It looks like there are some gaps in your Office365Users piece and you are missing a ")".  Start by fixing this:

Office365Users. UserProfile (User().Email.Department

Office365Users.UserProfile(User().Email).Department

Hi

Patch('Activities Overall', Defaults('Activities Overall'),{ReservedBy:
{'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & User().Email,
DisplayName:User().FullName,
Email:User().Email,
Department:Office365Users.UserProfile(User().Email).Department,
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
},

I have edited the gap but it's still not picking up.

Also Can I check how to add Salutation; First Name and Full Name in the syntax too?

Thank you

EDITED

Drop a label on the screen and put this in the text property.   This will let you know if it's actually returning a value.  If it is returning a value, try setting a variable in your App OnStart to the department and use the variable in your patch statement.    This eliminates the extra overhead and lookup that you are doing by combining Office365Users.UserProfile with User.() and goes directly to the current users profile by using Office365Users.MyProfileV2()

Office365Users.MyProfileV2().Department

Hi @bbsin :

The Department column is a Person or Group Column,you can not add a nonexistent person or group into this column.

What's more,the value of 'Office365Users.UserProfile(User().Email).Department' is a string,but you need to use a specific record or table in a specific format to update the Person or Group column.

I think this link will help you a lot:

Solved: Person column prepopulated patch error - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

Hi @JR-BejeweledOne

 try setting a variable in your App OnStart to the department and use the variable in your patch? - what do you mean??

Is it onstart - to add??? set(something??)   Thank you

Can I check how to add Salutation, Full Name and Surname into the syntax too so that it pick up into SP list columns?

hi @v-bofeng-msft

Thanks for the link, I dont quite understand it.. the -

ForAll(["test.user2@testing.com.au", "test.user1@testing.com.au"],

what do put in?

JR-B3ejeweledOne suggested

Office365Users.MyProfileV2().department

 I tested with a label it does appear on the screen but it's just no picking into the SP column - I not sure why...

bbsin_1-1631507925189.png

You are already setting varUser to the user profile, which means that it contains all the profile information for the current user.  So for starters eliminate all the extra lookups you are doing by using the User.() or Office365 connector in your patch statement.   You already have all those values in varUser.   Modify your patch statement like this:  Make sure that varUser.department is typed varUser.department not varUser.Department.   Is department the only one that isn't being picked up?

Patch('Activities Overall', Defaults('Activities Overall'),{ReservedBy:
{'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & varUser.email,
DisplayName: varuser.displayName,
Email: varUser.email,
Department:
  If(!IsBlank(varUser.department), varUser.Department, ""),
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
},

As far as salutations you can use  varUser.givenName and varUser.surname to get the first and last name.

Hi @JR-BejeweledOne

Yes, it's only the department that is not picking back to SP list.

I try - if I put small cap d.. there's error but I selected Department from the PowerApps auto pick there's no error and it still not picking back into SP.

I tested with label on the canvas it does appear..   for both syntax on the label

bbsin_1-1631587326127.png

not sure why it's not picking back to SP list.   Kindly help as the app needs to run on Friday.. .. Thanks.

Thank you
