Updating adapative cards when using chat with flow bot

I am using the"Post adaptive card in a chat or channel" box to give people notifications about approvals in a place they will actually action them.

If the approval updates (expires, cancels etc...) I want to be able to update the adaptive card so people dont try approving cancelled approvals.

 

The problem is, the update adaptive card in chat or channel block does not allow me to select the "chat with flow bot", only channel or group chat, see below.

So I dont seem to be able to access the card that I posted to the user who has a potentially cancelled approval in there, to show that the approval is no longer valid.

 

Am I missing something here? can anybody think of a work around?

Just use the Group Chat option and use the ConversationID and MessageID that you get from the card.

 

The only "problem" here is that I am still struggling with the permissions when updating a card sent to somebody else.

I tried the group chat option, and that did work fine for me but it means that every chat will have me in it, which just isnt practical in my situation. (unless you are making a group chat that doesnt have you in it, I tried that, and then I cannot update the adaptive card).

Well, I could try and create a group chat with a technical user and then this user will send and update the cards.

 

Did updating cards that other people have modified work for you?

The group chat option does not support the card trigger action.

I tried using a global admin for the connection, but even that account cannot update the card. Are there any other permissions that I can set to make this work?

I'm also running into this issue - and have no solution at this point. 

 

To be honest - this renders the "Update an adaptive card" action useless. It's such a shame. 

 

Does it help to raise a ticket, or is this a by-design behavior?

Also in need of this. Thank you for this thread though, as it has put my pain of searching to rest! Shame that it is not available.

I have created a feature request idea here: Add 'Chat with Flow bot' option to 'Post in' parameter for 'Update an adaptive card in a chat or cha... 

 

Vote up the idea if you would like to see this implemented.

The only workaround I could think of is to publish a "Thanks for answering" message with Publish a message using Chat with Flow Bot. Then you can use the conversation ID to update your adaptive card. You can get the message ID by using the messageID output when you first publish your card.

They should add the conversationID output to the Publish an Adaptive Card...

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
