Action 'Create_a_tag_for_a_team' failed

I am building a flow to selectively generate a Teams tag for a group.  I have, using an OData query, filtered a SharePoint list to select the members' email addresses and appended them to a variable, and inputted that variable's output to the "Create a Tag for a Team" action.  It is still failing with the same message, "UserId cannot be null or whitespace" every time.  I can see the outputs from the variable and can see the properly formatted email addresses, separated by a semi-colon, but it is like the action will not allow me to create a tag using Power Automate.  I can create tags manually inside Teams, and I am the owner of the channel for which I am trying to create this new tag.

The User IDs field requires a list of GUIDs separated by semi colon characters. It looks like (reading your description) you are inputting a list of e-mail addresses separated by semi colon characters, correct?

If so, that is something different and would explain the error. You can collect the user id of each user by retrieving it via the email address in a get user profile (v2) action. Append that id to your array.

So I tried it with the "ID" field from the User Profile and got the same result.  However, I wonder if based on your answer, should I change the string variable to an array?

Hi @JSCOTTPRICE,

Does your list of user ids end with a semi colon or without? If it ends with a ; it is like you are adding an empty user to the end of the list 😁. Which would explain your error message.

If that is the case, try and use the append to with an array variable or slice away the last character.

Setup how you could join the values.

Thank you, Expiscornovus, for taking the time to help, but I followed your advice and tried a few other things, and I get the "Unknown Error" #409 message about a conflict.   I tried using more than one source, flow, team, etc. to see if I could do it in one team and not another... I tried a really basic flow to input the values manually, and it seems I can create a tag for ONE person at at time... but every attempt to create a tag for multiple users doesn't work.

Are these people already member of the team? Can you add them all first to the team before you try and add them to the new tag via the flow.

It finally worked!  It had to "retry" but it finally did it... I changed it back to the original team (same people were in both).  Thank you.
