Populating a Dropdown Box with one of 2 Collections based on the value in another Dropdown box
I have a Dropdown that is populated from a SharePoint List. I have 2 other Dropdowns that are populated with Collections based on which value is selected from the first Dropdown. My problem seems to be with loading the collection sorted and displaying Lastname, Firstname. My first dropdown is working fine and displays 2 values. My 2nd Dropdown seems to be struggling with the 2 field names in my collections. Here is the code:
Switch(dd_DataCardValue4_1.Selected.School,
"Trad undergrad", Sort(AddColumns(ColAzureAdvisorsTug, "FullName", surname & ", " & givenName), surname),
"GRTS (SEM)", Sort(AddColumns(ColAzureAdvisorsGRTS, "FullName", surname & ", " & givenName), surname)
)

Both of those actions return their table in the value property.
So, change those to the following:
ClearCollect(ColAzureStaffulty, Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("Azure Object ID").value);
ClearCollect(ColAzureAdvisorsTug, Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("Azure Object ID").value);
ClearCollect(ColAzureAdvisorsGRTS, Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("Azure Object ID").value);
Set(varStudentName,User().FullName);
You really don't need a heavy-weight collection for those as your not going to be altering the results (i.e. add/remove/edit), so to be a little more performant in your app, you can change to variables.
Ex.
Set(varAzureStaffulty, Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("Azure Object ID").value);
Set(varAzureAdvisorsTug, Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("Azure Object ID").value);
Set(varAzureAdvisorsGRTS, Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("Azure Object ID").value);
Set(varStudentName,User().FullName);
Also, what is the Items property of your dd_DataCardValue4_1 control?

The 'Items' property of my dd_DataCardValue4_1 control is: Sort(Filter(Available_Schools,Enabled_AcademicAdvisorChange="Y"), DisplayOrder, Ascending)

Also, Should adding .value to my ClearCollect statements allow your Switch statement? I am still getting the same errors.

Yes, the .value added to the assignments in the OnStart is needed as the tables of information from those actions is returned in the value property.
The Switch statement should be working at this point, so revisit the experiment with the periods at the end of the table in the switch statement and see what columns it provides as suggestions to use.

I hope this doesn't change anything, but I am realizing that I am populating a ComboBox, not a Dropdown box in the 2nd field. If I leave the comma after the first Collection in the Switch statement, I don't get any errors, but the DComboBox doesn't display anything. I typically would see the Data source be the Collection and the Value would be the column I want to display. What I am seeing in place of Value is "Depends on...". Do I need to do more to get the ComboBox to display "surname, givenName" ?

The combobox will not make a difference in this case. You don't need the Depends on part of it. You should be able to see the fields you want in the Edit fields list.
What are you seeing in the Edit fields?

Here is what I have setup in Fields:
Ultimately, I want to display Lastname, Firstname and their email address below their name.

Is this the one that has the Items property with the Switch statement in it?

So then from what I see in the pictures, you should be good now.
Your Items property formula should be:
Sort(
AddColumns(
Switch(dd_DataCardValue4_1.Selected.School,
"Trad undergrad", ColAzureAdvisorsTug,
"GRTS (SEM)", ColAzureAdvisorsGRTS
),
"FullName", surname & ", " & givenName
),
surname
)
You appear to already have the "FullName" as LastName, FirstName - and, you already have that as the Primary Text, AND you also have mail as the secondary, SO...what is not working then?
